Eastern Sierra Dusk

49” x 61” | fabric | 2021

Made out of 352 individually cut pieces of new fabric, the Eastern Sierra Dusk quilt wall hanging is assembled and stitched together in the Textilepop studio. The art quilt is inspired by and abstracted from a photograph taken near Convict Lake in the Eastern Sierra at dusk (see original source image above), and each of the nine colors in this quilt was carefully chosen to reference that color palette.

The Eastern Sierra stretches along the remote side of the Sierra Nevada Range in California and includes the awe-inspiring Mount Whitney (14,494 ft.), the highest mountain in the lower United States. The geologic landscape is a collage of contrasts, from ancient volcanic fields and glacial lakes, to steep woodlands and many forests of Quaking Aspen and Jeffrey Pine.

The Eastern Sierra Dusk quilt wall hanging is made with new cotton materials. The bias tape was hand cut in the Textilepop studio from the same fabric and specifically chosen to match the color characteristics of the Eastern Sierra Dusk Quilt.

The art quilt features a twill tape sleeve on the back for hanging and display. For pricing and general inquires, please click the link below.
