Death Valley Badwater Basin

Designed and made by artist Nicki Voss, the Death Valley Badwater Basin quilt is based on a photograph taken in late spring at Death Valley National Park, in Inyo County California, early in the morning. Badwater Basin, sits below sea level at an elevation of minus 282 ft, and is the lowest point in North America.

The colors of this art quilt were carefully chosen to reference the shades found in the arid landscape, and incorporates three-dimensional texture through the use of lace protruding from the surface of the quilt. The original art quilt is made with all new cotton materials. The bias tape was hand cut in the Textilepop studio from the same fabric and specifically matched to the color characteristics of this quilt

Artist designed and made in Los Angeles County, California.
