California Poppy

Made out of 357 individually cut pieces of new fabric, the California Poppy quilt wall hanging is assembled and stitched together in the Textilepop studio. The quilt is inspired by and abstracted from a springtime photograph (see original source image at bottom left). Each of the eleven brilliant colors in the California Poppy quilt is carefully chosen to reference a color palette of reds, oranges, yellows and pinks.
The California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) has been the official flower of California since 1903. Recognizable for its fluorescent vibrancy, the native flower blooms from late winter through the summer and grows wild across the state.
The quilt is made with all new cotton materials and hand cut bias tape specifically matched to the color characteristics of the quilt. The art quilt features a twill tape sleeve on the back for hanging and display.
